Central Asian University is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across university operations, including governance, contracts, compliance, and risk management, while ensuring alignment with applicable laws and institutional standards.

Central Asian University is not merely a university, but an organization forming part of a dynamically developing ecosystem in the fields of education and healthcare. This ecosystem includes Central Asian University itself, AKFA Medline, Social Healthcare Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic Project, a pharmaceutical laboratory project, asset management activities, as well as other IT and startup projects. Accordingly, the engaged lawyer will be involved not only in the legal support of Central Asian University’s operations, but also in the legal support of the companies and projects forming part of this ecosystem.


Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day legal support to university departments

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies

• Support licensing, accreditation, and academic regulatory matters

• Assist with corporate governance (resolutions, minutes, approvals)

• Provide legal support on employment and HR-related matters

• Handle student-related legal issues (admissions, complaints, discipline, appeals)

• Support dispute resolution and claims management

• Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation actions

• Draft and update internal policies, templates, and procedures

• Advise on data protection, confidentiality, and records handling

• Support intellectual property, research, and publication matters

• Review procurement documents and vendor agreements

• Support local and international partnerships

• Provide legal support on facilities and operational matters

• Prepare internal legal reports and summaries

• Maintain legal documentation and contract records

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor of Laws from one of Uzbek law schools

• Master of Laws from internationally recognized university, obtained through on-campus study abroad (must have)

Work Experience:

•3-5years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: corporate law, commercial law, contract law, labour law, regulatory compliance, licensing, and dispute support.

• Prior experience in the education sector is preferred.

• Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills.

• Good understanding of corporate, commercial, labour, and regulatory legal matters.

• Ability to review legal risks and propose practical solutions.

• Experience in preparing legal correspondence, internal memoranda, policies, and templates.

• Good legal research and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple legal matters and deadlines in parallel.

• Strong document review and attention to detail.

• Fluent in Uzbek, English, and Russian.

Hard skills:

Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills.

• Good understanding of corporate, commercial, labour, and regulatory legal matters.

• Ability to review legal risks and propose practical solutions.

• Experience in preparing legal correspondence, internal memoranda, policies, and templates.

• Good legal research and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple legal matters and deadlines in parallel.

• Strong document review and attention to detail.

• Fluent in Uzbek, English, and Russian.

• Ability to explain legal issues in a practical and non-technical way.

• Good organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently on assigned matters while knowing when to escalate issues.

• High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

• Work schedule: 5/7, from 9:00 to 18:00.
